small study area ideas
You may not always be in the mood to sit down to study.
But a welcoming and well-thought study area can change your mood!
I was thinking of writing a post for a study area that you can set up for young students.
However, I just completed my Master’s 6 months ago and I thought parents of leaders might also study or work from home.
You might set up a study area for you a bit differently than your child’s.
Nevertheless, the study area is equally important for being productive and getting the work done.
This post is all about small study area ideas!
Your study area set up doesn’t need to be expensive. However, you need to think practically and create a study space that will be welcoming for the person, who needs to study -either it’s a young student or its parents-!

How to choose the right study area

A permanent study space is always the best option. If possible, find an area you can use exclusively for study and you can leave set up all the time.
Spaces with multiple purposes can be challenging. Various distractions, even if your child is not able to watch the TV, they might hear the noise. Also, it’s tricky to set it up and pack it up every time you want to study.
If you think you don’t have space for a study area at your house though, you have to be creative! Areas under staircases or bunk beds can be easily set up for study or work! Keep reading for more small study area ideas.

Important items for your study area

Setting up a dedicated and comfortable area to study or work may help trigger your motivation. Let’s go through the most important items for your study area.

  • Desk : Traditional desks are good, however a sit-stand adjustable desktop would be amazing for your posture, extra calorie burn and in general your health and wellbeing. Adjustable height settings can help you set up the perfect position, while you are sitting. Also, it gives you the flexibility to work or study while standing or even use the same desk for different students.
  • Chair
  • Good lightning
  • Power and/or internet connection (if needed)

Bonus items for your study area

Aside from your desk, the chair, power and good lighting, there are other items that you might add to your study space to make it ore welcoming and motivational.
  • Stationery items (pencils, pens, sticky notes, etc)
  • Bookshelves, file holders and/or filing boxes: Having a neat and tidy desk can help you to feel calm and in control, when you start feeling overwhelmed by the workload or studyload.
  • Calendar and class schedule/timetable
  • Clock
  • Rubbish bin
  • Motivational quotes & decoration ( photos, paintings, plants etc)
